Clarence City Council has announced a new initiative, “We are Clarence: We are volunteers,” aimed at inspiring local residents to engage in community service through the Clarence Community Volunteer Service. The campaign, launched today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, seeks to strengthen community bonds and provide support to those in need across Hobart’s Eastern Shore.

The “We are Clarence” campaign highlights the council’s vision for a community where individuals feel connected, supported, included, and valued. It emphasises the importance of residents looking out for each other, lending a hand, and contributing to the well-being of others when possible.

Clarence City Council stated that its existing volunteers already dedicate their time, energy, and skills to assist community members requiring support. However, there is a growing need for more volunteers to make a significant impact.

The campaign is actively seeking volunteers for various roles, including light gardening, transport assistance, shopping support (either assisted in person or by fulfilling a list), social support, dog walking, and community bus driving.

The Council encourages individuals to consider volunteering, stressing that any amount of time, whether significant or small, can make a substantial difference to the lives of others in the community.

Residents interested in becoming a Clarence volunteer can find more information by contacting the Clarence Community Volunteer Service directly via phone at 03 6217 9630 or by email at ccvs@ccc.tas.gov.au. An online form is also available for those wishing to register their interest.
