Eastern Shore residents should be aware of a significant emergency services presence at Hobart Airport tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, as Tasmania Police and other agencies conduct a planned training exercise. The public is assured there is no cause for alarm, as the activity is part of a routine and essential training program.

The exercise, scheduled to take place between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm within and around the airport precinct, is a requirement of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Its purpose is to test the Airport Emergency Plan and allow emergency responders and volunteers to practice and refine their response in a lifelike and safe environment.

Inspector Adam Mollineaux of Tasmania Police confirmed the details in a media release issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He stated that while there will be a heightened level of emergency services activity, including personnel and vehicles, it is all part of the planned training.

“For those members of the public who see a heightened level of emergency services at the Hobart Airport, there is no need for concern,” Inspector Mollineaux said. He further clarified that the training exercise is not expected to disrupt regular scheduled passenger flights.

The community is encouraged to remain informed by referring to official statements from Tasmania Police.
