Kingborough Council has opened its 2026 Community Grants Program, inviting applications from not-for-profit community groups for funding of up to $3,000.
According to the council, the program is designed to support projects and activities that benefit the local community. In a statement, Kingborough Council Acting Mayor Christian Street said the program plays an important role in supporting community organisations.
The council’s website states that applications opened on Friday, 31 July 2026, and will close at 5pm on Monday, 7 September 2026.
The program aims to fund initiatives across a wide range of areas, including community health and wellbeing, arts and culture, heritage, sport and recreation, festivals, and environmental projects.
To be eligible, organisations must be not-for-profit, based in the Kingborough municipality, and the proposed project must also be delivered within Kingborough. The council has specified that it will not fund more than 50% of a total project’s cost, requiring applicants to demonstrate that other financial or in-kind support has been secured.
Councillor Christian Street is serving as Acting Mayor for the remainder of the current council term. He was elected Deputy Mayor by fellow councillors on 18 May 2026, and stepped into the mayoral role after the resignation of former Mayor Paula Wriedt on 27 May.
