A Kingston man, 43, has been charged with several offences by Tasmania Police in relation to an incident that occurred at Hawthorn Drive, Kingston, on Saturday night. The man was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning, Monday, 17 August 2026.
Tasmania Police stated that about 4:20 pm on Saturday, officers responded to a call from a member of the public. The call concerned the alleged dangerous driving behaviour of a grey Nissan X-Trail, which was reportedly heading into Kingston on the Southern Outlet.
Police located the vehicle in the driveway of a property on Hawthorn Drive approximately 4:30 pm. The alleged driver was found inside the house, and police confirmed that no one else was present at the home at the time of the incident.
Specialist police resources were deployed to the scene. The incident was safely resolved around 7 pm, when the man was taken into custody.
Tasmania Police allege the man has been charged with drive whilst disqualified, evade police, wilfully obstruct a police officer, drive under the influence of a drug, threaten a police officer, and assault a police officer.
