A Kingston man has been charged with multiple offences following an alleged road rage incident on Algona Road, according to a statement from Tasmania Police.
The incident allegedly occurred at about 2:35 pm on Thursday, 6 August 2026.
Tasmania Police said a 47-year-old man from Kingston was taken into custody in relation to the matter. He was detained while police conducted further investigations.
Police have since charged the man with dangerous driving, common assault, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.
According to the police media release, the incident involved allegations of dangerous driving and an assault, which concluded with a vehicle crash near the Scarborough Road area. The victim of the incident sustained minor injuries and received medical attention, Tasmania Police stated.
The man was detained by police overnight and was scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday, 7 August 2026.
It is a court’s role to determine guilt, and any person charged with an offence is presumed innocent until found guilty.
Tasmania Police have indicated that their investigations are ongoing. They have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of vehicles on Algona Road or in the Scarborough Road area around the time of the alleged incident to contact them on 131 444, quoting reference number ESCAD 215-06082026.
