Tasmania Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old Mayfield man has been charged in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a Mowbray business earlier this week. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, August 10, at approximately 11 am at a business located on Vermont Road.
Police allege that a man threatened staff while in possession of a pocket knife during the incident. Fortunately, no one was physically injured during the alleged robbery. The man reportedly fled the scene on foot before police were called.
Following an investigation, a 27-year-old Mayfield man was arrested and subsequently charged with armed robbery. Police further allege he has been charged with two counts of stealing, relating to thefts from two separate businesses in Launceston last month.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on October 14.
