A man has died following a serious two-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway at Carrick on Monday morning.
In a statement, Tasmania Police said emergency services were called to the highway shortly before 9:20 am on 22 June after reports of a collision between a white Subaru and a black utility.
The two drivers were transported to hospital by ambulance. Tasmania Police later confirmed that one of the drivers, a man in his 60s from the North West, had died. The second driver was treated for injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.
The incident occurred near Heazlewoods Lane, according to a report from Pulse Tasmania.
The Bass Highway was closed in both directions for a period, and Tasmania Police advised motorists to avoid the area. Traffic was diverted at Oaks Road and Meander Valley Road while emergency services attended the scene.
In their statement issued on Monday afternoon, Tasmania Police advised that the Bass Highway was now open.
Police have stated that investigations into the crash are ongoing and that a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
