A 76-year-old man has been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition after a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck on the Brooker Highway this morning.

Tasmania Police said in a statement that emergency services were called to the scene at Montrose around 10 am on Friday, 19 June. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes at the foreshore intersection and involved a black Honda motorcycle and a white flatbed Hino truck.

The driver of the truck was not physically injured in the incident, Tasmania Police confirmed.

According to the police statement, the initial investigation suggests the motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck as the truck was slowing down at the intersection.

Traffic heading north was restricted to a single lane while emergency services attended the scene.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash and have asked anyone who saw the collision, or the truck and motorcycle beforehand, to come forward. Information can be provided to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or to Crime Stoppers Tasmania anonymously.
