Tasmania Police are investigating a reported armed robbery at the Shell Reddy Express on Hoblers Bridge Road in Newstead. According to a police statement, the incident occurred at about 11:25 pm on Friday, 3 July 2026.
Initial investigations suggest a lone male, dressed in dark clothing with his face covered, entered the service station allegedly armed with a handgun and threatened the employee on duty. The man was given cash and a quantity of cigarettes before he fled the scene on foot, heading in an easterly direction.
No one was physically injured during the incident. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
