Tasmania Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Shell Reddy Express on Hoblers Bridge Road in Newstead on Friday night.
According to a police statement, a man entered the service station at about 11:25 pm on 3 July 2026. Investigators allege the man was armed with what looked like a handgun and threatened the single employee on duty.
The man, who was dressed in dark clothing and had his face covered, was given cash and a quantity of cigarettes, Tasmania Police said. He then left the premises.
Police confirmed no one was physically harmed during the incident. The man was last seen leaving on foot and heading in an easterly direction from the service station.
Authorities are now appealing for public assistance with their investigation. They have asked anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery, or who might have CCTV, home security, or dashcam footage, to come forward. Police are also interested in reports of any suspicious activity observed in the Newstead area around the time the incident occurred.
