Three men from Latrobe have been charged following an alleged assault in the town on Friday night.

In a statement, Tasmania Police said the charges relate to an incident that occurred at about 10:30 pm outside a public bar on Gilbert Street.

Police will allege that three men assaulted a 42-year-old man from Spreyton. The man was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police statement.

Tasmania Police confirmed that three men, aged 27, 29, and 34, all from Latrobe, were arrested and each charged with criminal code assault.

Police also stated that the victim and one of the men charged are known to each other.

The three men are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

It is a court that will determine whether the men are guilty or not guilty. All persons charged with a criminal offence are presumed innocent until found guilty.
