A 41-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman have been charged with wounding following a disturbance in central Hobart on Sunday afternoon, Tasmania Police said in a statement.
Police allege an altercation took place involving a group of people near the Hobart Citadel on Elizabeth Street shortly after 3pm on Sunday, 21 June.
According to the police media release issued on Monday morning, officers were called to the scene following reports of the incident.
Tasmania Police said that during the altercation, one man sustained two alleged stab wounds to his upper body. A second man was reportedly struck to the head.
Both men were transported to hospital for treatment of what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have stated that all individuals involved in the incident are known to each other. The statement noted that police believe the altercation was connected to an ongoing dispute between the parties.
The 41-year-old man and the 44-year-old woman who were charged have both been bailed, Tasmania Police said. They are scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 5 October.
It is a requirement of law that all persons are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
