A serious single-vehicle crash at Blackmans Bay on Monday morning led to two people being hospitalised and cut power to more than a thousand homes and businesses.
The incident occurred on Burwood Drive, according to a report from Pulse Tasmania.
Tasmania Police said one person sustained serious injuries and another suffered non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by Pulse Tasmania. Both were transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.
The crash brought down powerlines, causing a significant electricity outage affecting around 1,400 properties in the Blackmans Bay and Huntingfield areas. TasNetworks advised that while it was able to restore power to some customers, hundreds were expected to remain without electricity for most of the day as crews worked to replace two damaged power poles.
Following the incident, police closed Burwood Drive between Dianella Drive and Lomandra Drive and asked motorists to avoid the area to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
