Tasmania Police have confirmed that two individuals are in custody following an alleged evade incident that unfolded across North West Tasmania this morning. The incident, which commenced in Latrobe, saw police attempt to intercept a stolen vehicle before it was safely brought to a halt, with no physical injuries reported.
According to a statement from Tasmania Police, officers patrolling Gilbert Street in Latrobe at approximately 9:04 am attempted to intercept the driver of a grey Mazda CX3. Police allege the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
The driver of the Mazda CX3 allegedly failed to stop for police and proceeded to evade officers, travelling between the towns of Latrobe and Deloraine.
Following the alleged evasion, the vehicle was safely intercepted by police, and two people were taken into custody without further incident. This occurred at approximately 10:08 am. Tasmania Police stated that nobody was physically injured during the course of the incident.
As investigations continue, Tasmania Police are appealing to the public for assistance. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have information or dash cam footage of a grey Mazda CX3 travelling in the Latrobe, Railton, Elizabeth Town, and Deloraine areas today.
